Every weeknight, The Morton Downey Jr. Show brought a focus to topics from the news and society of the day to people in a way that made them understand, care and take action.
While the critics (yeah, there were a few) saw The Morton Downey Jr. Show as loud, crude and crass, the fact is that Mort gave a voice to the people that those in power were trying to silence and ignore. Morton Downey Jr. quickly became an advocate not just for Conservative ideas. He exposed racism, revealed the failures of those who claimed to be leaders, supported the victims of crimes and gave a voice to the unborn. Mort took on the KKK, The Aryian Nation, feminists, abortionists, separatists and every pablum puker who stepped into his path by telling them to "Zip it!" The truth about people like Al Sharpton, Jane Fonda, Roy Cohn and Don King was brought to America on The Morton Downey Jr. Show.
